Eww Ginger

I know this came really late and I'm not entirely sure if anyone is still able to get hold of this palette but I just had to get a blog post up on this because it's simply too gorgeous.

Prior to this, I've never owned any hourglass blush and I was on the fence about whether to get this. The reason being that swatched on hand, these blushes looked like a glittery mess with subpar colour payoff that looks chalky. But as I went to read some reviews online about this palette, there seemed to be more positive reviews than negative so I got it in the end because it seemed like a really great palette at a good price. And boy, it did not disappoint.

See what I mean? It really does look pretty chalky when swatched on hand

The first time I've used it, a swipe of the blush was enough for my cheeks. Unlike when it was swatched on hand, the colours showed up beautifully on the cheeks. With this palette, you get 2 Blush and 2 Strobe Blush. On me, Lucid Glow is a coral, good for everyday blush that gives an almost sunkissed look on the skin.

Top (L-R): Surreal Effect, Brilliant Nude
Bottom (L-R): Lucid Glow, Infinite Flush

I've been using it everyday for a good 3 weeks and found that I much prefer mixing them together. On days where I want a pinkish-coral look I'd mix Surreal Effect and Lucid Glow together, on other days when I prefer a more muted look I'd swirl Lucid Glow and Infinite Flush together for a more natural look. What do you think?

Lucid Glow + Infinite Flush

Lucid Glow + Surreal Effect

Hope this helps anyone out there if you're still deliberating on whether to get Hourglass blushes! They definitely don't look impressive when swatched but when applied on the face they can be really pretty.

Thanks for reading!

Before I get into this post, I'd just like to put up a disclaimer that these products may not be necessarily terrible and that it could likely just be not suitable for me/due to user error. Sometimes I get so caught up with all the good product's benefits/functions that I completely overlook that it may not be suitable for my skin type... Or forgot to factor my laziness into consideration.

Alright let's not ramble so much and get right into it!

- Becca First Light Priming Filter
This is terrible on oily skin (which I have). Also in 2020 I wish to be more sensible and stop buying things that do not work for me. I think I saw some reviews saying that this is not for oily skin but I was eyeing this product for a while and totally forgot about it the moment I saw that it was on sale.

- Goodal Vit C Dark Spot Serum
Didn't work for me. I did not notice any difference with this.

- Garnier Skin Active Micellair Makeup Removing Towelettes
Not a fan. It's rough and is much drier than I'd like. Also everything the Bifesta wipes isn't.

- Make Up Forever Smoothing Primer
Didn't see a huge difference with this, so after a while I didn't see a point in putting this on.

I think that's about it! It's not a terribly long list, thankfully. One of my NYR is to use up all the things that I've bought so hopefully it'll be a while until I start buying things again. Time to be a responsible consumer. Meanwhile, I'll keep updating this blog with anything that's worth recommending and what to avoid. :)

Bye!

I'm so bad at blogging that we are back to the yearly favourites again after a grand total of 6 blog posts. My New Year Resolution is to get my act together so that means more content on this site (hopefully).

Moving on to happier topics - 2019 favourites! Boy, do I have a lot to share. 2019 was the year I started experimenting more with make up and I've tried so much products that I really do have a long list for you guys:

Best of 2019 (in no order of preference)

Make-up:
- Armani Lip Maestro in 102
A really wearable colour that goes with any make-up look! On days when I prefer a lighter look, I'd just dab a bit on my lower lips and spread it over to my upper lips.

- Charlotte Tilbury Walk of Fame lipstick
A very, very flattering shade of red. Not the dreadful loud kind of red.

- Colourpop No Filter concealer
Good coverage, does not slip off my oily skin.

- Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Natural 1
Gives my skin the most wonderful warmth I didn't know I needed. Sooo easy to use it's idiot proof.

- Glossier cloud paint in Dusk and Beam
Love this. Love the colours, love how natural it looks on me and how it's so convenient because I don't have to use a tool to apply it.

- Glossier mascara
This came highly recommended by a friend and I could easily see why. It lengthens the lashes without all the mess and lumpiness.

Skin care:
- Pyungkang Yul Acne Cream
In my mind, this works as well as Clinique's moisture surge. But at a much lower price and better packaging. Love that I don't have to dig my hands into the tub, and as a result I found myself reaching for this more frequently than I usually would.

- Tamanu Oil
In 2019, I discovered the importance of face oils in preventing acne scars. Tamanu Oil not only does that but it helps to lighten the acne marks as well. Score!

- Some kind of a plant-based spray from Taiwan
Not really sure what plant this is, but I love the fine mist that comes with it and it's so light and refreshing that I always reach for it whenever it's within my sight.

- Aveeno Sheer Hydration daily moisturiser
LOVE this. I used to really hate body moisturisers because of how sticky they are, which makes it really gross in humid Singapore. But this. It's a total life changer. Apart from my oily/combination skin on the face, my skin is quite dry everywhere else and it can get quite itchy at times. I'd refuse to use a body moisturiser even so, but now that I've discovered this I'm going to be repurchasing it until it gets discontinued (please don't). It's fragrance free, absorbs quickly and leaves an almost powdery feel on your skin. My BEST discovery of 2019.

-Bifesta make-up wipes
Went through countless packs of this especially before I go for all my yoga/barre/spin classes. Tried many other brands' but it's never as good as Bifesta's.

Misc:
- Daiso brush cleaner
Cheap and cleans the beauty blender like a dream.

- Bath and Body Works' Stress Relief scent
I know, this is not really a product. It's an entire range by BBW but the scent! It is incredible. Please have a whiff if you happen to be near any BBW stores.

Honorable mentions:
- NYX ULTIMATE eyeshadow
Parked this under here because I'm still not that into eyeshadows. Couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how to use eyeshadows to complement my features. But I was looking at a very simple eyeshadow tutorial on Youtube using CT's stoned rose palette and managed to achieve something (in my mind) that's close to that look with this palette.

- Jill Stuart Lipstick in Tender Mum
Don't love how the packaging looks (it's too fancy for my taste) but I really enjoyed the little mirror on top of the lipstick case. So nifty! Also really love this shade and the formula - it's in the most comforting colour and is buttery soft and hydrating. But sometimes this shade can a bit unflattering on me (depending on the lighting, my lip colour etc), which really sucks.

- Make-up Forever Matte Velvet Skin Compact
This is good but it's really more suitable for people with smooth skin. I'm putting this in as an honorable mention because it was the only thing I had access to on an instance whereby I needed to cover up my dark undereyes/blemishes and it worked, so I can see how handy it would be for some people. The soft blurring effect is amazing as well.

- Fenty Flyliner
It's here because it was in my 2018 favourites and still is my favourite eyeliner. I have already bought 2 more back-ups of it, that's how much I love this product.

That's it guys! There's another worst of 2019 category that I want to do but this post is getting too long so I'll put it up in a separate post. Don't wanna bore you all when the year has just started. ;)

Bye!
